Nick Hakim (full name Nicholas Hakim) is an American musician based in Brooklyn, New York, United States. He has released two EPs and two full length albums: Green Twins, which was released on ATO Records in May 2017, and "WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD", which was released on ATO Records in May 2020.
Early life and education
Nick was raised in Washington, D.C. by his parents, a Chilean mother and Peruvian father. At 17, a friend invited him to sing with her church choir, where Nick taught himself to play piano. Soon after, he attended Berklee College of Music.
Career
Nick self-released his debut EP, Where Will We Go (Pt I & II) in 2014.
In 2017, he released Green Twins through ATO Records and toured internationally. The album went on to earn critical acclaim by media outlets including Pitchfork and The Guardian, and was named one of the Ten Best R&B Albums of 2017 by NPR. Vice called it a "soulful, psychedelic experience".
- In 2018, Nick performed on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts.
- His song "Needy Bees" was featured in an episode of HBO's Insecure.
- In 2019, T-Pain sampled his song "Cuffed" for his single "Getcha Roll On".
- In March 2020, he announced his new album WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD and released a music video for the single "QADIR".
