About Darren Farnsworth
Darren Farnsworth
Original music written, engineered, produced and performed by Darren Farnsworth.

Darren Farnsworth was born in the Washington DC area before his family took him to Silicon Valley - San Francisco Bay Area in the late 70’s. It was there that he was inspired by music and technology.

He went to school at Cogswell Polytechnical in Sunnyvale, California for Sound Engineering and had a dream of moving towards snow capped mountains. In 1994, he packed up his truck and a uHaul and drove out to Salt Lake City, Utah to follow his dream of opening up an analog recording studio.

In a basement of his home in Utah an analog recording studio was built and soundproofed. It was there that he captured several musicians and bands over the years, including his own music, under the label Recording Club.

In 1995, he purchased his first motorcycle. It was a Yamaha XT 350 enduro. His passion for adventure was bursting at the seams and was motivated to get a bigger motorcycle by the 1969 movie “Easy Rider”. Soon after his purchase in late 1996, he was conversing with an old friend in Mountain View, California about a possible road trip. He convinced Darren to head south of the border with him in late 1997 to see pyramids.

After his life changing five month trip, Darren returned to the Silicon Valley to work at a startup in the booming Dot-Com Era. It was there that he fell in love with the business functions such as CRM (customer relationship management), databases and web design.

He returned to the Utah area in 2002 and ended up in the automotive industry to put his new professional skills to the test. From then on, he has made some waves at several automotive dealerships as well as small businesses.

Musical Career

For the last three decades, Darren has been involved with several bands and recording projects.

JEBU was the first band that he dove deep into recording in the late 90’s. This band out of Ogden, Utah recorded five albums in the Recording Club studio. All songs were captured on a 24 track reel-to-reel analog tape. This band played some incredible shows at music venues and festivals in the Utah area. JEBU opened for Black Uhuru two times. Once in a venue in Downtown SLC and another at a festival in northern Utah called The Rolling Summer Festival.

Darren’s next notable project was Honest Soul. The band recorded and released a full length album written chronologically about a relationship, start to finish. The album was released in 2011 on the day that they opened for a sold out show, Michael Franti (Spearhead) at Red Butte Amphitheatre in Salt Lake CIty. They also had the good fortune to open for well known bands such as Charles Bradlley and Jimmie Vaughan, brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan .

Between 2011 and 2015, Darren focused on recording, performing and touring. He toured with Tony Holiday and Jordan Matthew Young of Candy’s River House. During that time, he also recorded full length albums with Victoria Lagerström, Pour Horse and PIG EON as well as a few songs with Tony Holiday.

In 2016, he found another passion project, Crook & The Bluff. Every member in this project was committed to get this band on the road and a “monolithic” album recorded. They did a handful of tours in the pacific northwest as well as two European tours. After releasing a few singles, Crook released their full length album in spring of 2021, MONOLITHS.
